GRACE: a storytelling company is a leading film and TV production enterprise led by Emmy-winning writer, director, and producer Josh Wakely.
GRACE develops and produces a broad range of projects for worldwide audiences, working from its New York, Los Angeles, and Sydney offices. Using a unique venture-backed model, GRACE is able to develop material to its fullest creative potential before partnering with the distribution platform best suited for marketing and supporting the production.
GRACE has gained acclaim for tapping into the cultural zeitgeist by converting some of the world’s most sought-after music catalogs, life rights, and other coveted intellectual property into successful film and television projects.
Inspired by an ever-growing list of the world’s most beloved music, GRACE established trusted relationships with leading rightsholders such as Sony/ATV and Universal Music Group to creatively develop and produce projects based on the songs, stories, and characters found within these catalogs. These include three of the world’s most revered catalogs: Northern Songs (The Beatles), Jobete and Stone Diamond (Motown), and the entirety of Bob Dylan’s songbook, among others.
The resulting series include two-time Emmy-winning children’s animated series BEAT BUGS (Netflix), based on the music of The Beatles, and the animated series MOTOWN MAGIC (Netflix), based on Motown’s beloved hits and executive produced by Smokey Robinson. Both series featured reimagined tracks sung by multi-platinum-selling recording artists, including Sia, P!nk, Jennifer Hudson, Eddie Vedder, and more. GRACE is currently developing a series based on the characters and themes in the music of iconic artist Bob Dylan, with Dylan attached to executive produce.
The company is currently producing THE GREATEST, a new scripted series about sports legend Muhammad Ali, now in production at Amazon. The series was originated and is executive produced by Wakely, who secured Ali’s life rights and assembled an all-star team to produce the show, including Lonnie Ali, Jay-Z, Michael B. Jordan, Ben Watkins, Roc Nation, Outlier Society, Authentic Brands Group and Universal Music Group/Polygram.
